Drawing on lineages of resistance poets like June Jordan, Suheir Hammad, and Aurora Levins Morales, this workshop aims to share the tools of poetry as both a creative and a political practice. Writing poetry is not only a craft, but a way of living in the world— rigorously, carefully, with attention and slowness. Through a combination of creative prompts, reading, discussion, writing exercises, and (optional) sharing, participants will leave this workshop with a new piece of writing and questions to continue exploring their own relationship with poetry.
