Thamsanqa Ncube, known as Tham, was born in the Whitewaters area, nestled amongst the rolling Matopos Hills, a few miles south of Bulawayo; Zimbabwe’s second largest city, He moved from Zimbabwe to South Africa, and lived in Pretoria, South Africa, till his recent move to the beautiful Yellowknife, NWT, which he hopes to call home for his family soon.
Tham’s writing has been deeply influenced, and indeed enriched by the stories of the scores of his fellow countrymen and women who are now scattered across a lot of foreign lands, including Canada’s Northwest Territories – driven away by the troubles that have continuously haunted the land of his birth, Zimbabwe for decades. He is hopeful that through his and other people’s writing, there can be a small insight into the challenges that have caused this mass exodus of people from his once cherished beautiful homeland, and perhaps from such insights possible solutions and sustainable ways forward.
He has published a collection of short stories called Home and Away – Stories of a Zimbabwean Exile; as well as a lot of online stories and some poetry.
