Stephen Kakfwi spent decades asserting the rights of his Dene people and working on behalf of all NWT residents. He served as NWT Premier and Minister of several government departments, and as President/Chief of the Dene Nation. He recorded four albums as a singer-songwriter before publishing his 2023 memoir, Stoneface: a Defiant Dene.
