This is a wonderful opportunity for writers, poets, and storytellers to share their work with a captivated audience. Whether you're a seasoned spoken word artist or taking your first steps into literary events, our stage is open to all. Audience members will be surprised by readings from passionate local authors, who will tell stories that make you smile, cry, or think. Come along to listen, be inspired, and perhaps share a piece of your own!
GATHER: A Spoken Word Open Mic is your chance to take the microphone for up to 5 minutes and perform anything original that is spoken out loud. For instance, you could read:
• a few poems you’ve penned
• an excerpt from a novel you’re crafting
• an original stand-up comedy routine
• a skit you’ve written and want to perform with friends
• a hilarious true story of a disastrous first date
• a traditional tale shared by your auntie
• or anything else you fancy!
Simply sign up at the door upon arrival. Event MC and NorthWords NWT Board President, Robyn Scott, will be there to welcome you. Don’t forget to invite your friends to cheer you on!
Don’t have anything to read? No worries! Come and enjoy the talented writers and performers of Yellowknife as they showcase their skills on stage.
Full food and beverage service is available!
We’re excited to see you there!
