Carly Straker has been writing since she was a young child, though 'Things The Trees Taught Me' is her first published poetry collection. She currently lives in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada where she was born and raised and first discovered the magic of what it was to hold a pencil in her hand and know the sacred connection to the water and the woods that so deeply feel like home. She is the mother of a little girl who is sunlight in her life and the place from which so much of her art and wonder flows. Her creative works often touch on love, sorrow, femininity, and nature.
