What Your Northwords NWT Corporate Sponsorship Does

Please note that we are not yet a registered charitable organization, and we are therefore unable to issue charitable donation tax receipts at this time. As a corporate sponsor, you will also help support NorthWords NWT’s year round programming to encourage and develop northern writers. Past and current programming includes writing contests, workshops, peer-led writing circles, book clubs, and “open mic” nights.

1. Supports the Annual NorthWords Writers Festival

As a non-profit northern organization, we depend on corporate sponsors to supplement the public funding available for holding the annual writers festival. This enables us to offer low cost or free events to the general public.

2. Year-Round Youth Literary Programming

NorthWords programs help northern youth in developing strong self-esteem, and a better understanding of others while encouraging a love of community through reading and writing. NorthWords offers a special youth-focused workshop series that runs from October to March. It culminates in a 2-day youth writing retreat.

In addition to our youth workshops, Northwords also encourages youth writing through an
annual writing contest.

Your contribution will help provide continued programming to nurture NWT writers of all ages.

3. Workshops, Writing Contests and Special Events

Your support will help to ensure that NorthWords can provide year-round support to northern authors through a variety of workshops, readings and special events such as the 2017 Evening of Poetry and Jazz featuring then Canadian Poet Laureate George Elliott Clarke alongside local jazz musicians Andrew Jossa and Sean Robson.
